The Miami Valley Fair Housing Center, Inc. (“MVFHC”) is a private nonprofit fair housing organization. MVFHC does not have attorneys on staff and does not provide legal advice, legal opinions, legal representation, or attorney-client services.
Any information, guidance, education, intake assistance, counseling, advocacy, referral, investigation, testing, or other fair housing-related assistance provided by MVFHC is offered for general informational, educational, enforcement, and fair housing assistance purposes only. It is not intended to be, and should not be understood or relied upon as, legal advice.
MVFHC staff members are not acting as attorneys and do not represent any individual, household, housing provider, witness, complainant, respondent, or other person in a legal capacity. Communications with MVFHC do not create an attorney-client relationship, do not establish legal representation, and are not protected as attorney-client privileged communications.
MVFHC may provide information about fair housing rights, responsibilities, complaint processes, administrative procedures, referral options, and available community resources. MVFHC may also assist individuals in identifying possible fair housing concerns, documenting housing-related experiences, preparing information for administrative complaints, or understanding general options that may be available. However, MVFHC cannot interpret the law for any person’s specific legal situation, advise any person about the legal consequences of a particular course of action, draft legal pleadings on behalf of any person, appear in court for any person, negotiate legal claims as legal counsel, or provide any service that may constitute the practice of law.
Any person who needs legal advice, legal representation, an interpretation of their legal rights or obligations, advice about deadlines, court filings, settlement terms, appeals, or the legal consequences of any decision should consult with a licensed attorney. MVFHC may, when appropriate, provide referral information for legal aid organizations, lawyer referral services, private attorneys, or other resources, but any decision to seek or retain legal counsel is solely the responsibility of the individual.
By accepting assistance from MVFHC, individuals acknowledge that MVFHC is not a law firm, does not employ attorneys to provide legal services, and is not providing legal advice or legal representation.
